    My question with events is always the same: what’s the net? The gross is an exciting number, but the net is often disappointing. I’d be curious as to where these major events came in.

    I don’t like charity events for the same reason that you wonder what the net is and out of that net, what will be used for the individuals who need the services get? There is usually a huge percentage that does not get to the ones who need the funds. Usually, I just write the check and ask that they not send me any mailings or thank you gifts, since that is not what I want or need. Far faster and the net is the entire amount of the check,
