What’s the secret to a successful donor loyalty program?
There are many ways to look at donor loyalty, from the fact that “loyalty” should be baked into any successful development effort to pre-packaged programs that focus on specific activities and “rewards.”
In the end, loyalty programs are meant to increase retention of donors and as a way to steward existing donors on a path toward increased giving.
Share your thoughts and experiences about donor loyalty on the next #fundchat, Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 12 pm – 1 pm EDT. To participate, follow the #fundchat hashtag using your favorite Twitter client, or use our Twebevent page (http://twebevent.com/fundchat).
There are so many questions we could discuss, including the following that have appeared on Twitter today:
- How do you encourage donor loyalty?
- Is your stewardship strategy different for loyalty donors? If so, how?
- At what length of time as a donor do you include them in your loyalty program?
- Are giving clubs part of your strategy and how do you use them to increase loyalty?
- …do you have ideas for other questions? Please offer them in the comments section below.
There are some great resources out there about donor loyalty. One worth checking out is a book by Adrian Sargeant and Elaine Jay titled, Building Donor Loyalty: The Fundraiser’s Guide to Increasing Lifetime Value.
I hope you can join us for this important chat. And many thanks to @dan_blakemore for suggesting this week’s topic!
